What I’ve Done

COMMUNICATION, MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS

  • Created marketing strategy for all stakeholders for hypothetical nonprofit program in Lead 420 (2019)

  • Communicated with local stakeholders (churches, health clinics, etc.) to advertise the Getting Ahead program for HopeNet. (2020)

  • Produced resource guide to communicate community resources available to college students for sorority. (2020)

  • Designed infographic for social media to educate public on how parents can effectively discuss faith topics with their children for hypothetical parenting program. (2021)

CULTURAL COMPETENCY AND DIVERSITY

  • Discussed with supervisors best practices for meeting clients in an inviting way, despite my privilege socioeconomically (how I talk to them, how I dress) (2018, 2020)

  • Discovered ways to meet with clients at HopeNet who did not have access to technology amid a pandemic (2020).

  • Have taken multiple categories of the Harvard Implicit Bias assessment and written reflection of results for a variety of classes at K-State (2018-2021)

FINANCIAL RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT

  • Support raised for short term summer ministry project, Kaleo (2019-2021)

  • Gained skills in articulating financial needs and the mission behind where financial donations would be going through the Kaleo project training (2019-2021)

  • Met with donors to discuss updates of how organization was doing at HopeNet (2021)

FOUNDATIONS & MANAGEMENT OF THE NONPROFIT SECTOR

  • Researched and met with each position within the HopeNet organization to learn overall structure and roles of each employee (2021)

  • Visited with community partners of different sizes with HopeNet who held different roles in the Wichita community to see the variety of structure depending on size of organization (2021)

  • Educated on the reason why nonprofits were created and the different types through the Introduction to Nonprofit Theory class in the Staley School of Leadership at K-State (2019)

GOVERNANCE, LEADERSHIP & ADVOCACY

  • Designed hypothetical nonprofit board with diverse demographics and skills in the LEAD 420 class (2020)

  • Observed HopeNet staff meetings and observed the different leadership styles taking place (2021)

  • Collected and explained client confidentiality paperwork from new clients at HopeNet (2021)

  • Coordinated COVID-19 protocols while maintaining privacy regulations in a sorority house of 70 women. (2020)

  • Conducted behavioral, mental and emotional health meetings for members in sorority to provide guidance and support while maintaining extreme privacy. (2020)

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Competed nationally in Resume and Interview Skills for Business Professionals of America (2017-2018) 

  • Participated in a professional development day with the organization City Year through a K-State Nonprofit Shadow Day (2019)
